Data transmission based on speckle patterns in multimode fibers is a new generation of optical data transmission systems. By using the hundreds of transmission modes in multimode glass fibers, they can achieve significantly higher data throughput than today's systems. Students will build and characterise speckle-based transmission systems and improve transmission rates.
